What Can I Expect During Dental Implant Treatment?
Dental implant placement can require a few appointments based on your unique treatment plan. Firstly, you’ll meet with Dr. Kandar to discuss your goals and determine the right approach for your teeth. If there are any concerns that need to be addressed, like extraction or bone grafting, Dr. Kandar will make sure you know what to expect. Once you’re ready for an implant, you’ll relax in our luxurious office while the implant is placed in the underlying bone. You’ll be given anesthetic for this step and enjoy the hospitality of our team. Once complete, a partial denture can be placed for the meantime.
You’ll undergo a recovery phase during this time where the jawbone will begin to fuse with the implant so it’s essentially a part of your jaw. This can take around six months. Once the implant is soundly in place, an abutment will be placed, which is the attachment on which the crown will sit. You’ll heal from this process over the course of about two weeks while a crown is fabricated. You’ll return for a final appointment so that the crown can be checked for fit and placed. Once the whole process is complete, your implant will be completely undetectable and function just like your natural teeth.
