Composite Fillings

Managing Numbness and Sensitivity

For a few hours after your appointment, your mouth, tongue, and face may be numb. You may experience some slight sensitivity to hot or cold, but this should subside within a day or two. If you have any soreness, you can take ibuprofen or acetaminophen according to the bottle’s instructions. If you have sensitivity that lasts beyond a few days, make sure to contact us.

Eating After Composite Fillings

You can return to eating normally immediately after your filling appointment. Make sure to avoid chewing foods until the numbness subsides since you’re more likely to bite your tongue or mouth without knowing it. The same goes for hot foods or beverages.
