San Francisco

Botox® is one of the most popular cosmetic treatments performed each year. What you may not know, however, is that Botox has a variety of uses. With a customized approach, our certified cosmetic team can help you achieve your goals with this industry-leading option.

Botox has been in use as both a cosmetic and medical treatment for decades. It’s made with a specialized type of bacteria called botulinumtoxin Type A which can block neurotransmitters in the muscle and prevent movement signals. Although Botox first began as a way to treat unwanted muscle spasms, it has become a treatment of choice for cosmetic patients.

At Uno Dental San Francisco, we’re excited to offer Botox to patients looking to transform their smile, refresh their look, and find effective relief from medical concerns like TMJ/TMD. With our unique approach to dentistry and one-of-a-kind membership program, you can enjoy your best smile yet in the comfort of our state-of-the-art dental suite.

What Can I Expect During Botox Treatment?

Botox can be professionally administered in our Bay Area office. To begin, we’ll discuss your cosmetic goals, provide a full cost estimate, and create a customized treatment plan that fits you best. If you’re concerned about discomfort, we can supply a topical numbing agent at the injection site. Once you’re prepared, Botox is placed in the muscles using a very fine needle. Afterward, you can return home. Overall, your appointment can take as little as 15 minutes.

How Can I Get the Best Results from My Botox Treatment?

In order to get the most out of your Botox treatment, you’ll be provided a list of detailed aftercare steps from our team. On the way home from your appointment, make sure to move the treated muscles as much as possible to help the product take hold. For the first 4-6 hours after your appointment, however, make sure to avoid bending over, exercising, laying down, or massaging the muscles (since this can cause the product to spread to unwanted areas). Also, make sure to wear SPF 30+ after your appointment since your skin will be susceptible to sun damage. It can take up to 2 weeks for your results to emerge, after which we encourage you to return for a follow-up appointment. Botox can last between 3-4 months for most patients, and we’ll make sure you have a customized schedule of when to return for your next treatment.

Botox FAQs

How do I prepare for Botox?

It’s best to arrive at your appointment without makeup or active skincare ingredients. For 2 weeks ahead of your appointment, avoid taking blood-thinning medications and NSAIDs like ibuprofen since these can cause bleeding and bruising.

How long does Botox take to settle?

Botox can take between 1-2 weeks to take hold, meaning you may not see instant results with your treatment. If you’re unsatisfied with your results after 2 weeks, you can return for touch-up treatment to add more units.

How much does Botox cost?

Botox is priced according to the number of units needed. During your consultation with our cosmetic team, you’ll be given a full estimate of how much product is needed to achieve your goals.
